Members of our Club are expected to consider the welfare of their dogs and the best interests of the breed above any personal gain or profit. In return they will receive impartial, friendly and balanced advice on all aspects of the Border terrier, such as character, health and care, and help in identifying reputable breeders of quality borders. For those members who may be considering breeding a litter, guidance about how to locate the best suitable stud dogs for their border is also freely available.
We have a yearly publication containing different articles, news, results, and reviews for our fully paid up members. We hold “Fun days” with activities ranging from talks on the young Kennel Club, Junior Handling, demonstrations on hand stripping a border terrier, agility, exhibitions on memorabilia, terrier racing, matches, health issues etc.
Annually, a sales table is manned by the ringside at Crufts, where we hand out our Year Books, give help and advice to novice owners, and answer enquiries about the breed.
Members of the MBTC are entitled to a reduced entry fee for our three shows, and there are reasonably priced caravan and tent pitches for those wishing to stay at the venue during the days leading up to our Championship show in August. There is a licensed bar adjacent to the camping area, scene of the fabulous and often hilarious (depending on the participants) “Hot August Night Disco”, hosted the night before the Championship show!

The Club runs seminars in accordance with the Kennel Club Code of Best Practise, including Breed Specific Seminars, Conformation and Movement, Practical Judging Experience, and the Kennel Club Rules and Regulations, for those members wishing to judge our breed.

In summary, with an excess of 750 members in the UK and worldwide we all share that fundamental passion to preserve and protect our precious breed.
